Decadence & Decay by David Casey

Time: May 05 2019 |

Location: 422 1/2 Preston Street Ottawa, Ontario

Inspired by Vanitas paintings of 16th & 17th century Europe, this exhibit explores the tragic beauty of the life of a flower. Their ephemeral existence is as brief as it is beautiful. We celebrate their beauty; indulge ourselves in them, and within days the beauty has turned to decay.

Decadence, in this case, alludes to the steady march of time, for a few days, the flower blooms in a flash of uncompromising beauty. The vibrant gold back ground symbolizes decadence of beauty; oblivious to the ceaseless and unforgiving passage of time.
